A short story by Maria Vladimirovna Kiseleva, sent to Chekhov for his opinion; he judges its style uneven but the work genuine and "suffered into being by its author," and worth more than a rival piece he calls "Stray Bullets." Not to be confused with the fictional Agnia (Agnyushka) of Chekhov's own story "Bezzakonie".
