A story by Nikolai Mikhailovich Ezhov, accepted for publication in \emph{Novoye Vremya} as of this letter; Chekhov praises it as real progress but flags that the passage narrated by the water-nymph's father drifts toward the manner of Korolenko's "The Forest Rustles". Distinct from, the generic Slavic folklore water-spirit figure that may appear as a motif within the story but is not the story itself.
