The Power of Hypnotism
also: Силу гипнотизма, Sila gipnotizma
A planned vaudeville Chekhov mentions intending to write "in the summer" -- distinct from "The Bear," his one-act vaudeville already staged; here named only as a future project he does not feel like starting yet, in his own dismissive account of himself as an occasional, reluctant vaudevillist.
Reading notes
- To I. L. Leontyev, 2 November 1888. Moscow. §9 I'll write "The Power of Hypnotism" in the summer
"The Power of Hypnotism" (Силу гипнотизма) is a vaudeville Chekhov here proposes to write himself, later in the year -- his own planned work, not a Shcheglov play, and distinct from "The Bear," the vaudeville he has already written and staged (\S4-5, 10) and from Shcheglov's "The Theatrical Sparrow" and "The Summer Husband" discussed just above.
