A Second Youth (Nevezhin)

A Second Youth

also: Вторая молодость, Vtoraya molodost

A domestic drama by Pyotr Nevezhin, a stock repertory piece of the period; Chekhov reports seeing it performed by the amateur Sumy theatre troupe in this letter and dismisses the production with a one-word verdict ("Cobblers"). Reasonably confident but not certain identification -- Chekhov names only the title, not the playwright, though "A Second Youth" is a known Nevezhin play of the era and fits the letter's run of jabs at fashionable but shallow theatrical fare.
