a brief note plus the address written on the reverse of the card/envelope, one addressee, one date. Dated 24 January 1892, from Moscow.
A terse personal note to Vladimir Alekseyevich Gilyarovsky – journalist, writer, and Moscow chronicler, already referenced admiringly elsewhere in this corpus – apparently the first letter in the corpus addressed to him directly. Chekhov announces simply that he has returned (to Moscow) and that he will be in the city for five days, signing with his initial and surname. The remaining sections give the delivery address on the back: "Here" (i.e., within Moscow), Stoleshnikov Lane, at Karzinkina’s house, addressed to Gilyarovsky by full name and patronymic.
