\emph{Russky Arkhiv} ("Russian Archive"), a historical monthly founded in 1863 by Pyotr Bartenev, devoted to memoirs, correspondence, and primary documents on Russian history; Chekhov sends Suvorin its 1879 volume III here and, in the next section, asks instead for volume V of the same year -- part of his Sakhalin-research borrowing.
