Ivan Nikolaevich Sakharov

Sakharov

also: Иван Николаевич Сахаров, I. N. Sakharov

The addressee of this brief 6 February 1891 letter of thanks and practical follow-up: an intermediary helping Chekhov arrange the shipment of donated books to Sakhalin, part of the library-building effort Chekhov took up after his journey to the penal colony. Not otherwise identified in the letter itself, and not attested elsewhere in this corpus under this name; distinct from the unrelated painter Sakharov and from Elizaveta Konstantinovna Sakharova, who appear in earlier, unconnected letters and share only a common Russian surname.
