The surname matches the Malkiel already established elsewhere in this corpus (a Moscow theatre proprietor who controlled the Pushkin Theatre) but nothing in this letter itself confirms the two are the same person, since Chekhov's joke here concerns Mizinova's social climbing rather than theatre business; the identification is offered as the best available match, not a certainty.
