Vladimir Alexandrovich Wagner
V. A. Wagner
also: В. А. Вагнер, V. A. Wagner
Real zoologist honored by the mock amateur theatrical benefit in Bogimovo; the satire plays on "exterminating" household pests, comparing insecticide to the tedium of zoological scholarship.
Reading notes
- To Al. P. Chekhov, 24–25 July 1891. Bogimovo. §6 the zoologist V. A. Vagner
Vladimir Alexandrovich Vagner, a real zoologist and university classmate of Alexander's, distinct from the writer and fellow zoologist Nikolai Petrovich Wagner ("Kot-Murlyka"), also a Bogimovo houseguest that summer -- the two Wagners/Vagners, unrelated to each other, are both present at Bogimovo in 1891, a coincidence the corpus's entity notes are careful to keep separated.
