The Griboyedov Prize (Грибоедовская премия), a real annual award of the Society of Russian Dramatic Writers and Opera Composers for the best new play, named for the playwright Alexander Griboyedov; Chekhov served on the committee redrafting its statutes, alongside the actor-playwright Sumbatov (Yuzhin) and the playwright Ippolit Shpazhinsky.
