Letter · 1884

To P. G. Rozanov, October 1884. Moscow.

П. Г. Розанову, Начало октября 1884 г. Москва.

Headnote

A brief business note to Pavel Grigorievich Rozanov, a doctor in Zvenigorod, the small town outside Moscow where Chekhov worked that summer as a locum physician at the local hospital. The "sign" in question was almost certainly a practical matter tied to that posting. Chekhov asks Rozanov to forward the letter back along with a photograph and news from Zvenigorod, promising fuller word after the 15th – a glimpse of the easy, errand-running correspondence he kept up with colleagues from his brief medical service there.

Early October 1884. Moscow.
