"Khokhlandia" (Хохландия)

Khokhlandia

also: Хохландия

Pyotr Dmitrich's affectionate coinage for the Ukraine/Poltava countryside, built on the ethnic slur root "khokhol" with the place-forming suffix "-landia." Used here nostalgically and without hostility -- he is praising the region's haymaking season and simple pleasures -- but it carries the same slur root and is preserved untranslated-in-spirit as "Khokhlandia" per the corpus's editorial policy of presenting documented period usage factually rather than softening it.
