An old bronze candelabrum of fine artistic workmanship depicting two nude female figures in suggestive poses; too indecent for any recipient's household yet too fine to discard, it is re-gifted from the doctor to the lawyer to the comic actor before being sold back, unrecognized, to the family that gave it away in the first place -- the story's central comic device.
