An intermediary, otherwise unidentified in the corpus, whom Chekhov asks Ivan to have forward the school materials to Kononovich -- presumably someone with access to zemstvo or ministry paperwork in Sumy or Moscow, given the request's administrative nature. Not to be confused with (Suvorin's son-in-law) or (a Zvenigorod acquaintance), both attested elsewhere in the corpus under a similar but distinct surname.
