Reading notes
- To N. A. Leikin, 2 December 1891. Moscow. §7 It runs together with Myasnitsky's "The Hare."
Ivan Ilyich Myasnitsky (pen name of Ivan Ilyich Barankevich), a Moscow comic writer whose play \emph{The Hare} (\foreignlanguage{russian}{"Заяц"}) shared the Korsh Theater bill with Leikin's \emph{The Medal} that season; Chekhov's acquaintances' verdict -- relayed, not his own -- favors Leikin's piece as the more literary of the two.
