person
Olenina
also: Оленина, оленинской роли
FICTIONAL CHARACTER in Alexei Suvorin's play "Tatyana Repina". Chekhov judges Suvorin's script corrections to this role largely unnecessary, arguing the part depends on the actress's playing rather than her lines; the role was assigned in the Maly Theatre casting to the actress Leshkovskaya, with Fedotova later expressing interest too late. Not a real person; distinct from, the actress who plays her.

- To A. S. Suvorin, 28 December 1888. Moscow. §3 Olenina's role are not especially needed
Olenina is a fictional supporting role in "Tatyana Repina," not a real person -- do not confuse with the actress ultimately cast in the part, Leshkovskaya (; see, \S10, where Suvorin's casting list assigns her the role after Fedotova's late, unsuccessful bid for it).
