Sergei Arkadyevich Andreyevsky (1847-1918), a prominent Petersburg criminal-defense lawyer and literary critic, frequently paired with Prince A. I. Urusov in accounts of Petersburg literary-legal society. Named here as one of the "implacable dialecticians" Chekhov expects to face debating his new story at the Literary Society.
