A play by Ivan Shcheglov written after his travels to the Caucasus; Chekhov cites it in this letter, along with Shcheglov's plays of military life, as evidence that Shcheglov writes best when drawing on real travel rather than Petersburg contemplation, in contrast to the weaker "The Summer Husband."
