1 A short, cordial theatrical-business note of 6 January 1889 from Moscow to Alexander Pavlovich Lensky of the Maly Theatre, continuing the ongoing exchange over Suvorin’s play "Tatyana Repina" already extensively documented in this corpus’s late-1888/early-1889 letters.
2 After the double dateline (1-2), Chekhov sends Lensky a copy of "Tatyana Repina" incorporating the author’s latest round of corrections, noting that Lensky’s own role – Adashev – absorbed the bulk of the changes, which is why he is sending Lensky a copy singled out from the others; an identical copy has gone to the actress Nikulina as well (3). He asks after Lensky’s health, guesses he must be worn out, and says he plans to call on him soon, closing with regards to Lensky and his wife (4), followed by the signature (5). A final brief item, set off as its own unit, asks Lensky to let Chekhov’s sister know when rehearsals of "Tatyana" will begin and when the play will open (6).
