Reading notes
- To D. V. Grigorovich, 24 December 1888. Moscow. §8 Lensky is playing Adashev
Adashev is a FICTIONAL role in Suvorin's "Tatyana Repina," not an additional person; this is the same role entity already catalogued from's apparatus, here given to Lensky in the Moscow casting Chekhov reports.
- To A. P. Lensky, 6 January 1889. Moscow. §3 Adashev
FICTIONAL CHARACTER, not a real person: a role in "Tatyana Repina", already disambiguated at's headnote. Lensky plays this part (per's gloss of the source's compressed cast-list phrasing "Адашева -- Ленский"), which is why the recent authorial corrections -- said here to have fallen mostly on this role's lines -- prompt Chekhov to send Lensky a specially marked copy.
