Dmitry Ivanovich Tikhomirov

A well-known Moscow pedagogue, children's-book author, and editor of the educational journal Detskoye Chteniye ("Children's Reading"); enlisted by Chekhov in early 1891 to approach the Moscow Committee of Literacy (institution:literacy-committee-moscow) about assembling and sending a library to the planned Sakhalin schools. Not to be confused with (Lev Alexandrovich Tikhomirov, the former revolutionary and political pamphleteer), a distinct historical figure who shares only the surname.
