A stout actor in Chekhov's Odessa theatrical troupe of summer 1889, always sleepy and complaining of exhaustion; a Cossack from the Don region, with whom Chekhov drank wine late into the night and talked about the Don and the stage. Distinct from the fictional Marya Yefimovna Grekova of "Platonov." First name and patronymic unresolved.
