Russkoye Bogatstvo ("Russian Wealth"), a Petersburg monthly "thick journal"; in December 1886 it ran Leonid Obolensky's article "Chekhov and Korolenko," a lengthy comparison that lavishly favored Chekhov over the older, already-established writer Vladimir Korolenko -- an unusual public elevation that Chekhov reports caused a stir at home.
