A story by Ye. M. Shavrova that Chekhov asks after here ("Where is 'In vino'?") as apparently still owed him; it resurfaces some months later in his 19 November 1891 letter to her among a list of her manuscripts he is keeping, no. 3 on the inventory.

Another Shavrova story, apparently promised or overdue; Chekhov asks after it in passing. It resurfaces roughly ten months later, still in his keeping, in his 19 November 1891 letter to her (no. 3 on that letter's inventory of her manuscripts).

The Shavrova story Chekhov had been asking after since his 11 January letter; he has now finally found time to read it and delivers detailed editorial notes -- praise for the drunkenness scene, but a firm push to cut the "shaved mug" character as an artificial contrivance.
