"The Swan" (Le Cygne)

The Swan

also: Le Cygne

The cello solo from Saint-Saëns's "The Carnival of the Animals" (1886); Gruzin plays it from memory, having once heard it on the cello, for Zinaida Fyodorovna shortly before Orlov's desertion of her is exposed -- one of the story's few moments of unguarded feeling among Orlov's circle.
