1 Written from Moscow on 28 February 1889 to Ivan Maksimovich Kondratyev, this is a brief, purely practical note asking Kondratyev to prepare and mail Chekhov a bill, or statement of account ("счет"), giving his current address for the purpose.
2 After the double dateline (1-2) and the salutation "Dear" and "Ivan Maksimovich!" (3-4), Chekhov asks Kondratyev to be so good as to prepare his bill and, if possible, send it on to him by post, for which he will be much obliged; he gives his address as Kudrinskaya Sadovaya, Korneyev’s house (5), then closes with "Sincerely yours" (6) and the signature "A. Chekhov" (7).
