The tramp who remembers no kin

the tramp

also: непомнящий родства, бродяга

A small, frail, sickly tramp being escorted to the district town under Russian passport law, who conceals his true name and past (a manslaughter conviction and an escape from hard labor) by claiming to be a nameless vagrant, and who pours out a rambling account of a genteel childhood and a lyrical dream of a free settler's life in Eastern Siberia, until one constable's blunt remark on his poor health collapses the fantasy.
