Sasha Smirnov's widowed mother, who with her late husband and now her son deals in old bronzes; unknown to the doctor or the comic actor, she is the very secondhand dealer to whom the gifted candelabrum is eventually sold, and she supplies her son with its "matching pair" that closes the story's circuit of re-gifting.
