The great Siberian river Chekhov reaches at Krasnoyarsk in \textit{From Siberia} Ch. IX, rhapsodically contrasted with the Volga as an untamed "hero" against a tamed, melancholy "beauty"; marks the point where he considers Siberia's true, majestic nature to begin.
