From Siberia

"From Siberia"

also: Из Сибири, From Transbaikalia, Из Забайкалья, From the Amur, С Амура

The umbrella title Chekhov proposes here for the travel-note "chapters" he is sending Suvorin from his journey to Sakhalin -- "From Siberia," then "From Transbaikalia," then "From the Amur" -- envisioned as a serial run of short dispatches printed in Novoye Vremya. The six chapters he sends with this letter are the direct seed of the completed travelogue eventually published as "Из Сибири" ("From Siberia").
