Nyuta's husband, a solid, unnamed architect who visits the dacha once a week, sleeps well, and returns to town; Volodya's jealousy of him is the first sign of his obsession with Nyuta. He appears again the day after her betrayal of Volodya, making vulgar jokes at breakfast, unaware of what has happened.
