A literary fundraising "miscellany" (collection of newly contributed stories and articles) undertaken by the editorial board of "Russkiye Vedomosti" to benefit victims of the 1891-92 famine; the subject of A. S. Suvorin's proposal, forwarded by Chekhov to Sobolevsky in this letter, that other papers pre-publish its contents at double fees to swell the relief fund.
