Nina Fyodorovna's younger daughter, seven years old at the novella's opening, plump and fair-haired where her sister Sasha is thin and dark; stern and given to sudden tears, she struggles through her catechism lessons with Laptev and later falls seriously ill with diphtheria at the same time as her infant cousin Olya, who does not survive it.
