"The Jubilee"

also: Юбилей, Yubiley

Chekhov's one-act farce "The Jubilee" (Юбилей), listed in this corpus's manifest (category: plays) with a composition/premiere year of 1891; here, in (22 February 1892), Chekhov reports to I. M. Kondratyev that he has finished writing it and that theatrical censorship has approved it, using the standard period genre tag "шутка в I действии, оригин." ("a joke in one act, original"). Distinct from the earlier prose story of the same title (1886) and from the unrelated juvenile piece "Мой юбилей" (1880).
