Chekhov's one-act farce "The Proposal" (Предложение, 1888-89), in which a marriage proposal is repeatedly derailed by quarrels over land and dogs; mentioned here as a minor catalogue note -- it will be printed under the pseudonym "A. P." rather than "Antosha Chekhonte" or "A. Chekhov."
