Alexander Sergeyevich Dargomyzhsky (1813-1869), pioneering Russian composer of "Rusalka" and "The Stone Guest," a formative influence on the later nationalist "Mighty Handful" school; anecdotes about his sharp wit and eccentric temperament circulated in Moscow literary-musical circles long after his death.
